Advanced funneling for Ring/Box bases
What is advanced funneling?
Before reviewing this, please make sure you have read and understood our topic on funneling 101. Advanced funneling is mostly used on ring/box base designs. It requires players to clear large groups of buildings on 2 corners of the INNER ring of the base. The best way to understand this is to refer to the pics below. Split your army in 3 groups. Groups 1 & 2 are smaller in size (example of a small group: 1 golem, 4-5 bowlers, wallbreakers, wizards, jump or rage). Their objective is to clear the areas shown in the images. Group 3 is the main force (example: 1 golem, bowlers, heroes, remaining spells, etc). Note: 1 jump or 4 quake spells will be needed to get to the core (not needed if your main force has miners & then heroes are used in one of the smaller groups). Remember if groups 1 & 2 have cleared their objective, group 3 will have NO CHOICE but to move forward straight to the core.
What is a ring/box base?
At the th10+ levels the ring/box style designs are quite popular. These bases have a large inner ring that has no compartments. The center is surrounded by walls and has critical buildings like the townhall, inferno towers, xbows and teslas. The purpose of this design is to make attacking troops circle around the base ignoring the core and getting only 1 star. Unfortunately this design runs a high risk of being an easy 2 stars by players who know advanced funneling.
